Q

Quartz
Crystals of pure Quartz, generally six-sided, can be found in all shades and colors. Quartz crystals grow singularly or in groups and take on different shapes according to the temperature at the time of their formation. Quartz crystals can also contain other minerals " frozen" within, as in Rutilated Quartz. Probably the most versatile multipurpose healing stone. Easy to cleanse, store info/energy in, program or amplify energy and healing with. Can both draw and send energy. Powerful clear ones open Brow, Crown, and Transpersonal Chakra for meditation, sending/receiving guidance. Stimulates natural crystals in body tissues and fluids to resonate at new healing frequency.

Yin or Androgynous Quartz
Works with all chakras and master gland. Works with all chakras and master gland for balancing, cleansing and healing. Used to amplify both body energy and thought. Natural tendency for Quartz is for harmony and is considered the "stone of power". Quartz can be used to facilitate both speaking and receiving information from the spiritual world, masters, teachers and healers. Stimulates positive thought and healing.

Blue Quartz
A fairly rare stone. Varies in color from pale blue to lavender or gray. Beneficial effects for the upper torso and related organs. Helps purify the bloodstream and heighten the body's immunity to disease. Helps you discover or increase your understanding of your spiritual nature. Has a calming effect upon the mind and stimulates hope. A good healing stone for linking heart with Throat and Brow Chakra to expand self expression and creativity, plus refining communication skill to new levels. Eases throat tension. Immune system, thyroid, iodine and B Vitamin use. Some say shining light through Blue Quartz can help reduce need for glasses. Still evolving. Yin. 

Clear Quartz
Is thought to amplify both body energy and thoughts. It can assist in the creation of power, clarity of thinking, meditation, cleansing, clearing the aura, spiritual development and healing. Clear Quartz is considered the "stone of power". A dedicated healer. Pure white light passes through it easily, leaving all the colors of the spectrum unaltered and giving substance to the argument that Clear Quartz crystals can help balance all the elements needed to make us whole and fulfilled. Amplify whatever influences are present in an individual or location. Acts as a purifier and tunes into the frequency of each individual. Will unblock specific areas or organs blocked from transmitting or receiving the flow of energy throughout the body. Helpful in guiding our search for the meaning and importance of existence. Aids in meditation. Can be used in conjunction with any other stone or gem for specific physical problems. It will amplify the effects of individual stones and attune the treatment to the energy of an individual person.

Dendritic Quartz
Is another variation that, much like Moss Agate, has pictures on its surface. These shapes often resemble plants or animals. Elestial crystals are crystals that generally have fewer side planes and blunt ends. These crystals are young and usually much smaller than most other Quartz crystals.

Gold Reef Quartz
Gold Reef Quartz is a combination of clear quartz and chlorite. The quartz brings high energy and chlorite is a very power healing mineral. Gold Reef Quartz is good for crystal healing layouts, warding off psychic attack, warding or guarding an environment. They are excellent healing stones, and are helpful for healing on all levels. Gold Reef Quartz can also help diminish and remove anger, frustration, and hostility. 

Golden Healer Quartz
Golden Healer crystals are excellent for crystal healing, and are said to be helpful when used in any healing situation. Golden Healers also help keep contact with the spiritual worlds. It is said by some that Golden Healers access Christ consciousness as well as activating the solar plexus chakra to join our will with Divine will. Golden Healers also align all the chakras and balance yin/yang energies.

Green Quartz
Has all the properties of Clear Quartz Crystal in addition to some of its own. This crystal opens and stabilizes the Heart Chakra. It encourages loving intuitive capability. It transmutes negative energy to positive energy without releasing any of the negative energy into the air.

Phantom Quartz
These crystals are crystals that at one point finished their growth cycle, then began growing again later. When looking inside these crystals, you can see a striation that indicates where the original tip was. For someone drawn to this type of stone, a need for growth is indicated. 

Lavender Quartz
Assists with disorders of brain-wave frequencies. Similar to Rose Quartz, this stone engenders peace, emotional support and positive responses. It is comforting and heightens self esteem. It also furthers communication in this world. It is a very Loving stone. Promotes unconditional love (for ourselves and others). Provides peace. Promotes clairsentience, clairaudience and clairvoyance.

Purple Quartz
This stone should not be confused with Amethyst. It has a dark violet color and may have inclusions or clouding within it. Beneficial to the cleansing organs. Capable of stimulating thoughts and helping you learn to contemplate and analyze data.

Red Orange River Quartz
Red Orange River Quartz is found in South Africa, at, you guessed it, the Orange River. Red hematite gives this quartz its deep orangey-red. The combination of the quartz and the hematite energize and at the same time ground you. Red Orange River Quartz is good for helping accept one's life path, and is excellent for self-realization and acceptance. It is helpful for clear thinking and decision making. It aligns the lower chakras.

Red Hematoid Quartz
Hematite is commonly recognised as a grey metallic stone, but when the hematite crystals become ground up fine, it is always red. The smaller grains scatter red light. Hematoid Quartz is formed when finely ground hematite (ferric oxide) is trapped within the Quartz crystal.

Metaphysical: intuitive and folklore sources believe the energy of these crystals vibrates in the root chakra, flowing up through to the crown raising the kundalini energy in your system. They promote balance and flow, helping to correct issues of slow vibrating charkas. Red Hematite energizes the etheric body and helps to give optimism, will and courage. It is a dynamic crystal. Red Quartz

Rose Quartz
Translucent to clear Pink. Love, beauty, peacefulness, forgiving, lovingness, self-love, emotional balance. Soft. Gently soothes and warms heart center. Emotional healing, loss, stress, hurt, fear, low confidence, resentment, anger. Slowly eases childhood traumas/ neglect/lack of love, low self-esteem. Cleanse and recharge often. Especially if fades. Aligns mental, emotional, and astral bodies. Deeply in tune with emotional states. Its value as a nurturing friend cannot be overstated. A soothing influence. Helps diffuse negative stimuli and uncomfortable memories. Helps us discover the ability to love ourselves and makes us more open to other people. Single and Double-Terminated Clear Quartz
Single-terminated Clear Quartz crystals are six-sided with a flat bottom and point at the top. These crystals teach us to focus energy on a concentrated point. Especially useful for people who have a specific area or organ in the body that needs lots of attention. For mental states, it will help you to focus on the best path to travel in breaking old habits or establishing new ones. Double-terminated Clear Quartz crystals are a special occurrence in nature. Most terminated crystals grow out of rock, often in clusters with other crystals. Double-terminated Clear Quartz crystals grow in clay or other soft materials. It has a point on both ends. They can draw energy as well as direct it. The center of the crystal works like a neutralizing chamber. One of the points draws negative energy inside, where it is transformed and purified. The energy then passes out of the crystal through both points. It shows us that most efficient energy comes from our own center.

Tangerine Quartz
Comes from Madagascar and are quartz crystals with a transparent coating of bright orange over them. Orange is the color of the second, or Navel Chakra, which has to do with the reproductive organs, and life-giving/creative energy. The energy of Tangerine quartz is bright and giving - these are very lively stones. Most stones from Madagascar are unusual and highly energetic, and this is no exception. Anyone needing to open or activate a blocked or sluggish Navel Chakra would benefit from working with this stone. As they are long crystals, they could be used like wands to open the chakra and direct the energy through it.

Snow Quartz
Snow Quartz has most of Clear Quartz Crystal's properties, but it performs them a little less efficiently. It is useful to bring out our cooperation and tact when we need it. It is a very good gemstone to have around when we are learning the lessons necessary in this lifetime.

Rutilated Quartz
Rutilated quartz is said to assist with tissue regeneration, assimilation of nutrition, and slow the advancement of aging. It is also said to boost the immune system and treat respiratory illness. Rutiliated quartz is also a mystical crystal "diagnostic tool" which can help discover the true cause of an ailment. Rutilated quartz is also purported to enhance mental and physical stability, self-reliance, and meditation on feminine ideas. It is reputed by intuitives and folklore to diminish fears, depression and issues with decision-making. Rutilated quartz is associated with the solar plexus chakra.

Spirit Quartz
Spirit Quartz was known as porcupine quartz or cactus quartz until it settled into its "real" name. Spirit quartz is reputed in the metaphysical lore to bring qualities of energy, peace, and positive energy to all realms. It is said to transform negative energy into positive energy, thereby being a very protective stone, and excellent for auric shielding as well as mental and physical types of protection. Spirit quartz is also excellent and often used for astral projection, dreamwork, shamanic journeying, and rebirthing. Emotionally it is said to remove fear, bringing emotional peace and happiness. Spirit quartz works very well with other minerals and can boost their energy as well as cleanse and activate them. Physically spirit quartz is used in traditional folklore and crystal healing lore for skin disorders, allergic reactions, colon disorders, detoxification, obsessive disorders, familial abuse related stress disorders. Spirit quartz is associated primarily with the crown chakra, but will work to align and balance all chakras together.

Smoky Quartz
Helps to overcome Depression, Nightmares, Stress. Smoky, rootbeer, or chocolate-colored clear crystals. The clearest, most intense ones powerfully open the Crown Chakra crawing light down the Root Chakra, inducing Alpha/deep meditation for channeling/higher guidance, deep relaxation, lovingness. Ancient use also to stimulate meridians, kundalini, and correct fertility/PMS/reproductive imbalance. Stores info well. Alleviates fear, anxiety, depression, emotional Dense, dull, solid/semisolid black/brown, less attractive. Very grounding, opposite of other smokeys. May feel dense, heavy, nonconductive Many were irradiated to turn them this flat, dark color with white edge of base. If so, they're not useful for conducting light/healing, thus less useful for wearing or healing. This medium-to-dark brown crystal found in the US, Brazil, and Scotland. A word of warning is in order regarding choosing Smoky Quartz crystals. Its dark color is caused by impurities, usually carbon, iron, or titanium. But the color of some Smoky Quartz is caused by the effects of minute amounts of decaying radium, within the crystal itself. Because of the presence of this natural low-grade radiation, Smoky Quartz is good for people with radiation-related illness or those in chemotherapy. It is best to avoid the heavily irradiated crystals. Most gemstone and crystal stores do not sell them, and most gem experts advise against using them in layouts. Natural Smoky Quartz crystals, like other brown stones, are closely in tune with the anchoring energy of the earth. Often sued for ailments of the lower torso. The reproductive organs, muscle tissue, heart, and nervous system all profit. Heightens your understanding of nature and concern for the environment.

Rainbow Smoky Quartz
Smoky Quartz with natural "feathers and veils" inside the crystal that create a natural rainbow. Intutive sources tell us this stone has all the properties of smoky quartz: protection, dissolving negativity & emotional blockages, reliving worries, enhancing dreams & meditations etc... The rainbow is a special gift that assists one to the realisation of the love that exists in ones life at every given moment.

Tibetan Scepter Quartz

Window Crystals and Other Esoteric Variations
Even though each crystal has the basic six-sided crystal shape and may be terminated, there is an additional flat plane, usually diamond-shaped, that give a view of the inner chamber of the crystal. It teaches the importance of looking within ourselves, even if the view into our own soul is clouded and imperfect.

Quartzite
This crystal is said to be excellent for supporting one through lesson learning, providing insight to the diminishment of limitations and to those responsibilities which are not necessary. It furthers ones abilities to maintain co-operation and tact in all situations.
